Project Overview
KEE Environmental was entrusted with a complex Bin Exchange project on behalf of SSI Schaefer UK for Middlesbrough Council , spanning from April 1, 2024, to August 1, 2024. This project involved the delivery and collection of Wheeled Bins, requiring coordination with the council’s waste collection teams to ensure bins were properly presented and emptied before removal.
Project Scope
The initiative focused on three key objectives:
✅ Delivering New Garden Waste Bins – Residents who opted into the annual garden waste subscription received a new wheeled bin.
✅ Collecting Existing Diamond Lift Wheeled Bins – Ensuring every presented bin was removed efficiently on collection day.
✅ Swapping Domestic Waste Bins – Replacing 140L bins with 240L bins for eligible households.
Execution & Logistics
To achieve these objectives, KEE Environmental deployed dedicated teams and vehicles over several weeks:
Garden Waste Bins Delivered: 18,890 bins (April 2 – May 15, 2024)
- Timeline: 2 weeks
- Team: 6 teams of 2 staff
- Vehicles: 5t tail lift vehicles
Garden Waste Bins Collected: 34,764 bins (April 15 – June 7, 2024)
- Timeline: 8 weeks
- Team: 2 large teams
- Vehicles: 2 x 18t tail lift + 4 x 3.5t tail lift vehicles
Domestic Waste Bins Swapped (140L → 240L): 13,410 bins (June 11 – August 2, 2024)
- Timeline: 7 weeks (including a scheduled gap week)
- Working days: Tuesday – Friday, in line with the council’s collection schedule
- Team: 3–4 teams of 3 staff
- Vehicles: 5t tail lift vans
